    Actually resistance training is better at working your abs and burning body fat than cardio.

    The whole point of cardio is raising your heart rate to speed up your metabolism which in turn burns body fat. If you perform full body exercises like squats, bent over rows, bench presses, etc. you are working your whole body as well as your abs.

    You are not working your abs directly but indirectly because your abs are stabilizing your body while performing these exercises which is more than enough to build up your abs and core.

    The great thing about resistance training is your are building muscle while burning body fat. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism is which burns more body fat. Thats why I’m kind of anti-cardio.

    You want to get ripped, just look at the people who do nothing but cardio like marathon runners. They have no muscle tone what so ever. Now look at sprinters. They all have Hugh muscles and are ripped. It’s because they get more than enough cardio by performing high intense weight training.

    Stair running is awesome for working your legs and your abs.

    Find a tall building around where you live or work and start at run the fire escape stairs.

    Some work colleagues and I have been stair climbing our work building (Tower 42 - London) for the last few weeks and everyone is getting great results.

    It is an intense workout - 5 mins of stair running is harder than 20 mins of running! The climbing not only works your core (strengthening the abs) but the cardio helps shed the weight from the stomach.
